IN DEFENSE OF TWO NATIONAL PASTIMES (ICE CREAM AND NFL FOOTBALL), MOVIE PRODUCER STRATTON LEOPOLD SAYS HE WILL SERVE ROGER GOODELL
While a New Orleans ice cream shop has posted a photo of Roger Goodell with the caption “Do Not Serve This Man,” another high profile, Southern ice cream shop owner is reaching out to welcome the NFL Commissioner, in spite of the controversy surrounding his recent decisions regarding the New Orleans Saints and “Bountygate.”(http://blackandgold.com/saints/53745-bounty-mess-has-generated-severe-bittern…)
Stratton Leopold, owner of Leopold’s Ice Cream in Savannah, is not only a major movie producer, but he is also a former NCAA football official. When Leopold heard the photo of the other ice cream shop was circulating, he created a tongue-in-cheek video extending an invitation to Goodell to visit Leopold’s Ice Cream in Savannah on his way to Super Bowl XLVII.

With a smile Leopold explains, “When we saw the photo, we decided to have some fun with it.” Leopold’s Ice Cream (www.leopoldsicecream.com) is going one step further to create a special sundae in honor of Goodell.
In between filming Hollywood blockbusters, Leopold and his wife, Mary, run the ice cream store, which was founded in 1919 by his father. Leopold’s Ice Cream and the New Orleans ice cream shop making media headlines, Creole Creamery, were both recognized recently by “The View” as two of America’s best ice cream stores.
Leopold’s most recent action thriller, “Parker,” starring Jennifer Lopez and Jason Statham, and directed by Academy Award winner Taylor Hackford, opened in Friday, January 25th. Portions of “Parker” were filmed in New Orleans.
Leopold’s other producing credits include “Mission Impossible III,” “Captain America,” “Wolfman,” “Sum of All Fears,” and “General’s Daughter.”

Leopold’s Ice Cream believes the development of the Savannah Dance Festival enhances the rich and diverse Arts and Cultural landscape in Savannah.  Leopold’s is challenging the community to donate to the Savannah Dance Festival, as it will be a benefit to the entire community. Leopold’s will match the first $5000 that is raised before the end of 2012. October is the nation’s Arts and Humanities Month and celebrates by encouraging Americans to recognize the importance of arts and education.
