LEOPOLD’S ICE CREAM OPENS NEW LOCATION!
SAVANNAH, June 13, 2017 – People traveling through the Savannah Hilton Head International Airport Monday had an unexpected sweet treat available on the terminal. Leopold’s Ice Cream opened their newest location, a kiosk, at the airport on Monday between the jetBlue and American Airlines gates. The kiosk is a one-of-a-kind timber frame design built by DIRTT Environmental Solutions. Mogens Smed, CEO, DIRTT Environmental Solutions said, “We’re thrilled to use our construction technology in an environment like this and especially with such a great partner like Leopold’s Ice Cream.”
Leopold’s signature soda jerks will be offering singles, double and pints of classic flavors such as Vanilla, Chocolate, Strawberry, Mint Chocolate Chip, Butter Pecan, Chocolate Chewies & Cream and Tutti Frutti. Passengers will have twelve flavors in all to choose from. Of this latest step in Leopold’s Ice Cream’s 98-year journey, Stratton Leopold remarked, “We couldn’t be happier with our new location or our partnerships with both the Savannah Hilton Head International Airport and DIRTT Environmental Solutions. This kiosk will give us the opportunity to share my dad’s famous ice cream and Savannah’s hospitality with the millions of people who travel through our charming airport each year.” Even as Stratton celebrates this latest accomplishment, he’s looking forward to their next move. “I won’t make any announcements yet, but let’s just say that the Savannah Hilton Head International Airport is about to get even sweeter!”
Leopold’s Ice Cream was founded in Savannah, Georgia in 1919 by three brothers from Greece. Peter, Basil and George passed their tradition of making super-premium ice cream in-house, one batch at a time down to Peter’s youngest son, Stratton. Stratton and his wife Mary own and operate Leopold’s today.
